Join the Gimli Saga Project and become part of a journey started by the trailblazing women of Gimli in 1975. Discover the rich tapestry of Icelandic heritage woven into the community's history, and help trace the remarkable stories and descendants of those who shaped Gimli and Canada. It's time to preserve the past and celebrate the vibrant legacy that continues to thrive today!
My story begins with wanting to learn more about the history of my family. Now it's your turn to share your story and reunite with your family. You can create a profile by answering a few questions, sharing any photos you may have, and sharing with your friends and family so they can do the same. Eventually, this will create stories and fill in any gaps within individual bloodlines to better understand where someone came from and the journey their ancestors took.

Ethel, who had to give up a Latin scholarship to the University of Chicago when her family returned to Winnipeg, attended Normal School, and taught first at wood, and then at Radwax School near Oak Point prior to her marriage. She and Dick farmed there for 15 years during the depression, and their four children, Lawrence Richard, who died at six weeks, Ray, Eileen (Linda), and Doris were born there.

In the first phase of this project, you can register your information and begin filling in your profile with information about yourself and your family by answering a few questions. From here, other family members can join and enter their information which may extend the family tree, connect long-lost family members, share stories, and help discover more about your lineage. Where your ancestors originated, their stories, and how their paths lead to where you are today. This can then be added by your own extended family including children to continue to story while connecting online with one another for years to come.
GO THERE NOWThe Gimli Saga brings the reader face to face with the stark realities of pioneer existence and the enduring power of human resourcefulness, stubborn determination and unfailing courage. This comprehensive work, replete as it is with treasured memories, depicts the transition from a small, isolated settlement to an economically and culturally progressive community with all the amenities of modern civilization. The book offers ample testimony that the pioneers' vision of a rewarding future in their adopted Canada was realized by their descendants.
